The Kapha Rituals
Ayurveda holds and elemental view of the universe and believes that we are made up of various combinations of the following five elements – air, ether, fire, earth and water. The combination of these elements form the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha and we tend to have a dominance in one particular dosha.
The elements that make up Kapha are earth and water and are characterised by qualities such as oily, cold, heavy and slow. These qualities translate into things like smooth soft skin, a dislike for exercise, a preference for warm climates and a prone to crave sweet and fatty foods. Kapha types tend towards stagnation so a stimulating body or facial ritual with warm aromas can also help to balance the Kapha dominance.
The Kapha Body Ritual
The Kapha Body Ritual is a fusion of massage, sound, and healing, drawing from the wisdoms of both Eastern and Western practices, bringing together ancient and modern therapies. The ritual melds remedial massage, Ayurveda, Reiki, chakra balancing, energy healing and acupressure to bring you back into balance, restoring and renewing your prana.
Incorporating the use of a stimulating Kapha oil blend, of 8 herbs, known to invigorate and uplift the senses. A traditional remedy for tired skin, natural exfoliates and powerful antioxidants help to stimulate and recharge the skin for pure radiance. The oil is lightly scented with frankincense, lime and neroli.
The Kapha Facial Ritual
The Kapha Facial Ritual is personalised to the Kapha dosha and tailored to provide a deeply relaxing and sensory journey. Incorporating the healing energy of Ayurvedic wisdom into a fluid facial treatment that will work subtly on the energetic body, as well as the physical, leaving you feeling grounded, rejuvenated and balanced.
The Kapha Facial Ritual will focus on drawing out impurities to purify the skin, assisting in eliminating congestion whilst managing excessive oiliness. Incorporating stimulating Ayurvedic herbs and plants such as cinnamon, rosemary and turmeric, your skin will be left feeling clear, fresh and smooth.
The ‘vimala’ gentle cleanser will remove surface oil, make-up and skin impurities, leaving your skin clean, refreshed and ready to accept the active ingredients in the serum, mask and moisturisers. The Gotu Kola is a traditional Ayurvedic herb used for wound healing and has collagen stimulating properties
The ‘samskrta’ skin polish is a mild exfoliant, with potent antioxidants, to gently exfoliate the skin; fragranced with essential oils of rose and jasmine. The Amla (Indian gooseberry) is revered in Ayurveda as an antioxidant and is rejuvenating with its high vitamin C content
The ‘rasadana’ hydrating mask is formulated to alleviate dryness. The organic honey binds water and is a natural wound healer; the Gingko Biloba stimulates circulation and neutralises free radicals, helping protect the skin cells from premature degradation
The ‘amala’ clearing serum is designed to control oily skin conditions and congestion. Coleus oil is an Aurvedic oil that is shown to inhibit acne causing bacteria and micro-organisms. Boswellia Serrata (Indian frankincense) is an anti-inflammatory and the honey is also an anti-bacterial
The ‘tula’ enzyme hydra lotion is ideal for congestion with pineapple extract to promote cellular regeneration, papaya to reduce blocked pores and licorice to help as an anti-inflammatory and skin brightening agent
The range contains no sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), parabens, harsh chemicals or known irritants, formaldehyde releasing agents, propylene glycol, mineral oils or artificial fragrance and colours. All formulations are vegan (apart from the mask which has honey in it), biodegradable, ethically produced and packaged and have not been tested on animals.
The Kapha Body Ritual and the Kapha Facial Ritual may also incorporate the use of a kansa wand, made from the ‘healing metal’ brass. This wand is used to balance the doshas by unblocking energy channels to improve the body’s healing mechanism. The kansa wand will be used over the marma points, reducing stress, calming the mind and bringing balance to the energies. According to Ayurveda, the long strokes from the metal surface of the Kansa wand can draw acidity away from the skin, normalising the pH and alleviating problems such as acne and inflammation.
