The Vata Rituals

Ayurveda holds and elemental view of the universe and believes that we are made up of various combinations of the following five elements – air, ether, fire, earth and water. The combination of these elements form the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha and we tend to have a dominance in one particular dosha.

The elements that make up Vata are air and ether and this dosha is characterised by qualities such as light, dry, rough, cold, moving and subtle. These qualities translate into things like cracking joints, difficulty maintaining weight, cold hands and feet and restlessness or nervousness. Vata types need to stay warm and eat warm heavy, nourishing foods. A deeply nourishing body or facial ritual can also help to keep Vata in balance.

The Vata Body Ritual

The Vata Body Ritual is a fusion of massage, sound, and healing, drawing from the wisdoms of both Eastern and Western practices, bringing together ancient and modern therapies. The ritual melds remedial massage, Ayurveda, Reiki, chakra balancing, energy healing and acupressure to bring you back into balance, restoring and renewing your prana.

This balancing treatment incorporates the use of the Vata Oil formulated to balance out the dominance of this dosha. The Vata oil is a compound of sesame oil, turmeric, nut grass, mimosa and vetiver, to help nourish the skin maintaining vitality and softness. This oil is lightly scented with rosewood, lavender and ylang ylang.

The Vata Facial Ritual

The Facial Ritual is personalised to the Vata dosha and tailored to provide a deeply relaxing and sensory journey. Incorporating the healing energy of Ayurvedic wisdom into a fluid facial treatment that will work subtly on the energetic body, as well as the physical, leaving you feeling grounded, rejuvenated and balanced.

The Vata Facial Ritual will focus on deeply hydrating and re-mineralising the skin, stimulating cell renewal with warming and nourishing Ayurvedic herbs such as ginger, cumin and black pepper. The increase in firmness and elasticity will diminish the appearance of fine lines and leave your skin with a youthful glow.

  • The ‘vimala’ gentle cleanser will remove surface oil, make-up and skin impurities, leaving your skin clean, refreshed and ready to accept the active ingredients in the serum, mask and moisturisers. The Gotu Kola is a traditional Ayurvedic herb used for wound healing and has collagen stimulating properties

  • The ‘samskrta’ skin polish has potent antioxidants, to gently exfoliate the skin; fragranced with essential oils of rose and jasmine. The Amla (Indian gooseberry) is revered in Ayurveda as an antioxidant and is rejuvenating with its high vitamin C content

  • The ‘rasadana’ hydrating mask is formulated to alleviate dryness. The organic honey binds water and is a natural wound healer; the Gingko Biloba stimulates circulation and neutralises free radicals, helping protect the skin cells from premature degradation

  • The ‘indiraa’ age recharge serum and moisturiser have a rich dewy consistency and contain the ultimate anti-ageing peptides to boost the skin texture, preventing signs of ageing and leaving a radiant and youthful complexion. The young coconut water locks away moisture and the Boswellia Serrata (Indian frankincense) is a potent anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory ingredient

The range contains no sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), parabens, harsh chemicals or known irritants, formaldehyde releasing agents, propylene glycol, mineral oils or artificial fragrance and colours. All formulations are vegan (apart from the mask which has honey in it), biodegradable, ethically produced and packaged and have not been tested on animals.

The Vata Body Ritual and the Vata Facial Ritual may also incorporate the use of a kansa wand, made from the ‘healing metal’ brass. This wand is used to balance the doshas by unblocking energy channels to improve the body’s healing mechanism. The kansa wand will be used over the marma points, reducing stress, calming the mind and bringing balance to the energies. According to Ayurveda, the long strokes from the metal surface of the Kansa wand can draw acidity away from the skin, normalising the pH and alleviating problems such as acne and inflammation.
